Iberia Relocates at JFK Airport in New York

MADRID, Spain, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- On February 1, 2005, Iberia Airlines of Spain will move its flight operations in New York from Terminal 8 to the recently redeveloped Terminal 7 at JFK International Airport.

Iberia Airlines passengers will benefit from shorter waiting times and faster check-in lines in the more spacious and customer friendly terminal. New retail outlets and concessions, as well as new access roadways and an improved parking facility are other advantages provided at Terminal 7.

Iberia's VIP Lounge moves to the Terrace Lounge, which is managed by British Airways and features a wine bar, showers, a library and a quiet area, among other amenities. First and Business Class passengers, as well as Iberia Plus Platinum, Gold and Club Fiesta cardholders will have access to this elegant and comfortable lounge.

Iberia has linked New York and Madrid since August 1954. The airline now operates nine weekly flights between the Big Apple and the Spanish capital. At Madrid's airport, passengers flying with Iberia from New York can connect with flights to 31 Spanish destinations, 31 cities in Europe, as well as eight cities in Africa and the Middle East of Iberia's network.

The Spanish airline operates its flights between New York and Madrid with A340/300 aircraft, one of the newest airplanes of its fleet. Iberia will refurbish all its A340/300 with the new Business Plus Class in 2005. The new Business Class seats, designed exclusively by Iberia, recline to become completely flat beds. The new seats provide greater privacy for business travelers together with the most modern in-flight communications and entertainment systems such as video and audio on demand, interactive video games, satellite telephone, short cell phone messages and e-mail.

Iberia is today Spain's leading airline and also market leader on Europe- Latin America routes. With 2003 revenues of 4.62 billion euros, net earnings of 146 million euros and operating earnings of more than 160 million euros, Iberia is Europe's most profitable scheduled airline. At the same time it is distinguished by its social, economic, and environmental policies, which were rewarded in 2004 by Iberia's inclusion in the Dow Jones Stoxx sustainability index. Iberia's commitment to the integration of disabled people in the workplace has made it one of the three companies best perceived for its social policies in 2003, and number one in employee cooperation programs, according to the independent Enterprise and Society Foundation. Together with its franchise partner Iberia Regional, Iberia completes about 1,000 flights each day to about 100 destinations. In 2004 Iberia carried about 31 million passengers and 214,000 tons of cargo.
