Visitors Enjoy Wisconsin Outdoors in Green Lake Country
GREEN LAKE COUNTRY, Wis., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Now that Wisconsin is covered in snow, it's time to celebrate winter's great outdoor activities. Whether it's ice fishing, the crowning of Miss Winterfest, ice bowling or a Torch-light Snowmobile Parade, Green Lake Country has it all.
Kick-off February in Markesan during Sno-week, February 1-6, 2005. It's a weeklong celebration of winter with activities for the entire family.
-- The fun begins on Tuesday with a sledding party and hot chocolate at
Kiwanis Park from 6-8 p.m.
-- Tri-Casa Animal Shelter presents the animal show and tell at the
Markesan Resident Home and Barrett Home on Wednesday. An after-school
program at Markesan's library features a reading of children's
stories.
-- Join in the Kiwanis Family Skating Party from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday at
the City Skating Park. Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available.
-- Put on your dancing shoes Friday for the teen dance at Prairie Lanes
from 7-10 p.m.
-- The celebration culminates on Saturday with a Poker Run, live music at
Prairie Lanes and a Torch-light Snowmobile Parade around Little Green
Lake. To top off the week, the Sno-Drifters Snow Ball Dance will
feature live music from 8 p.m. until midnight.
Looking for more winter fun, head to Green Lake the following weekend for Winterfest, February 11-12, 2005.
Grab your jigs, winter boots and bait, you'll be sure to catch something at the annual fishing tournament on Green Lake. This tournament attracts hundreds of fishers, young and old. Once you're all fished out, warm up at the Goose Blind with a Winterfest dance and the crowning of Miss Winterfest. Live entertainment by Greg Gerard will begin at 8 p.m.
Saturday's fun includes fishing seminars, a volleyball tournament, ice bowling, ice golf and an antique fair. There will be carriage rides, helicopter rides and a baked beans contest. New this year, camel rides and a petting zoo for the youngsters.
And don't forget about the ice carving competition or the medallion hunt! Food and refreshments will be available throughout the weekend.
