Northwest Offers Businesses UATP-Based Corporate Travel Payment

Program Adds Central Billing, Data Tracking and Superior Information Management

WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwest Airlines (NWA) has launched a new UATP-based business travel program through AirPlus International, which operates the largest UATP program in the global payment network. This is the second major airline in two months to launch a UATP program. Varig Brazilian Airlines began offering a UATP-based corporate card in December 2004.

The Northwest Airlines AirPlus Company Account joins the Continental Airlines AirPlus Company Account which was launched in January 2004. Both business travel products are accepted as a form of payment at travel agencies at all UATP merchant outlets worldwide which include: travel agencies, 200 airlines and online booking sites.

"UATP is helping airlines lower their credit card costs, eliminate foreign exchange fees, track volume discounts and build customer loyalty to their brand."

Northwest has been a UATP shareholder since 2000 when UATP became a privately held, airline-owned company. UATP has 20 shareholder airlines worldwide.

AirPlus International is a global leader in business travel payment solutions, offering central payment accounts through the UATP program, co- branded corporate cards and online management tools. AirPlus manages business travel programs for four UATP shareholders: Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL) , British Airways (NYSE:BAB) , Lufthansa German Airlines and Northwest Airlines (NASDAQ:NWAC) .
