TORONTO, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- South Padre Island - One of the largest annual assemblies of Canadians outside Canada is about to gather at the Winter Texans' Snowbird Extravaganza. Ten thousand Canadians are expected to gather February 7 - 8 at the South Padre Island Convention Center. The Winter Texans' Snowbird Extravaganza is a mixture of information and entertainment and is hosted by the Canadian Snowbird Association.

"All Canadian snowbirds and their American friends are welcome at this free event," says Gerry Brissenden, president of the CSA. "The Winter Texans' Snowbird Extravaganza is a celebration of a unique lifestyle that brings thousands of Canadians each year to Texas."

Canadian visitors to Texas have doubled in the last decade, and are the second leading source of international visitors to Texas. Canadians spend roughly $300 million annually in Texas, and often cite the popularity of Buckaroo Bucks as a reason for visiting Texas.

"What I tell my fellow snowbirds," says Brissenden, "is Texas treats its visitors like family. Buckaroo Bucks is just one measure of Texas hospitality, and we like to celebrate that every year at the Winter Texans' Snowbird Extravaganza."
