Delta Connection Academy to Provide Pilot Candidates for Trans States Airlines
Airline and academy agree to guaranteed job interviews for graduates
SANFORD, Fla., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Trans States Airlines and Delta Connection Academy have signed an agreement that will help the airline fill its need for qualified first officer candidates. Graduates of Delta Connection Academy's traditional Professional Pilot Program and the new accelerated "10+4 program" now have the option of a guaranteed job interview with regional airline Trans States.
To further assist the growing airline's ability to find qualified pilots, Trans States has signed up for the academy's 10+4 Program, which gives academy flight instructors the opportunity to interview with an airline after accumulating 700 hours of total flight time. The program makes it possible for a new student enrolling at Delta Connection Academy with little or no flight experience to become an airline first officer within 14 months.
"Trans States Airlines is pleased to form this new partnership with Delta Connection Academy because it gives us a dependable source of qualified first officer candidates," said Captain Sanjay Patel, Trans States Flight Operations manager. "We have already begun hiring academy graduates and are very impressed by their flawless performance in our tough first officer training course."
"We look forward to working with Trans States Airlines," said John Erskine, director of Airline Relations for Delta Connection Academy. "Our traditional Professional Pilot Program, the new accelerated 10+4 Program and our Jet Transition Bridge Course more than prepare our graduates for the complex and highly standardized level of training that airlines require and expect. Because the academy is airline owned and operated, 26 different airlines have trusted us as their source for first officers."
Based in St. Louis with 75 aircraft and over 1,200 employees, Trans States Airlines is the sixth largest privately held regional airline in the United States. Founded in 1985, Trans States has successfully positioned itself to be a regional feeder carrier for several major U.S. airlines.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) , Delta Connection Academy has produced more FAA-certified pilots in the past six years than any other flight school in the United States. With a fleet of more than 110 aircraft, the academy has trained students from 86 different countries and has placed pilots with 26 airlines. Graduates of the Academy are guaranteed a job interview with a Delta Connection Carrier, American Eagle Airlines, or Trans States Airlines.
