Continental Airlines Announces Daily, Nonstop Service From New York/Newark to Guayaquil, Ecuador

HOUSTON, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines(NYSE:CAL) will begin daily nonstop service from Liberty International Airport in Newark to Guayaquil, Ecuador, on June 9, 2005.

Continental's new direct nonstop flight between New York/Newark and Guayaquil will replace the airline's existing service, which makes a stop in Panama City. The new flight will depart Newark Liberty at 11:30 p.m., arriving in Guayaquil at 5:20 a.m. The return flight will depart Guayaquil at 7:45 a.m., arriving at Newark Liberty at 3:15 p.m.

Continental will operate a Boeing 737-800 jet with seating for 14 passengers in First Class and 141 in Coach on the year-round Newark- Guayaquil service. Continental also offers nonstop service to Guayaquil and Quito, Ecuador, from Houston, as well as service to Quito from Newark.

Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city and main port, is the country's economic center and the stopping-off point for visits to the Galapagos Islands. In recent years, Guayaquil has devoted considerable resources to the development of tourism.

The airline's Latinization initiative features Spanish-speaking flight attendants on the majority of Latin American flights, bilingual reservations and flight-information lines from the U.S., Spanish-English signage at major U.S. and Latin American airports, Spanish-language functionality on its Web site, and Spanish-language options on e-Ticket machines.
