What: The Tourism Economic Development Council, a subsidiary of the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, is reintroducing its popular monthly bus tours for the local hospitality community, now themed “D-Tours.” Media are invited to attend all or any part of the tour.
Why: The MLB All-Star game, Super Bowl XL and NCAA Men’s Final Four are among several upcoming marquee events that will put the national spotlight on Detroit and bring hundreds of thousands of visitors into the region. “D- Tours” is an initiative of “The World is Coming…Get in the Game” campaign to educate local hospitality workers and residents on the new developments and attractions in the region in order to create civic pride and ambassadors in advance of these events. The D-Tours include the Detroit riverfront development, lower Woodward corridor project, Midtown, and concludes with a presentation by the Super Bowl XL Host Committee. The tours will be expanded to the general public later this year.
When: Thursday, February 24
9:30 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Where: The bus tour begins in front of Comerica Park’s Tiger Club entrance. Park at the lot in front of that entrance and bring the ticket onto the bus. Complete itinerary follows.
