Hotwire.com Offers Tips on Where and How to Find Those Elusive Savings on Ski Trips

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ski season shows no sign of cooling down, and discount travel site Hotwire.com reports that contrary to popular belief, more snow does not have to mean fewer bargains -- if travelers know where to look.

"Several locations stand out this year, both as places receiving a lot of snow, and also as destinations with significant hotel savings, even on the weekends," said Amy Bohutinsky, Hotwire's consumer travel expert. "Top picks for better hotel deals this year include Lake Tahoe, Park City, Vail and Whistler. Prices go down even further if you stay mid-week or drive a little further, and stay in Salt Lake City instead of Park City, or Reno instead of Lake Tahoe."

For the best deals, Hotwire recommends avoiding weekend dates and traveling mid-week; hotel rates for stays Sunday through Thursday can offer substantial savings. Mid-week ski trips also offer the added benefit of fewer people in chair lift lines, more pristine runs and many resorts offer lower mid-week lift ticket pricing.

Hotwire guarantees the lowest hotel rates available at resort destinations, as well as nearby major cities, with savings of up to 60 percent off hotel rooms, including rates found on hotel web sites or other online travel agencies.

Hotel rates offered on Hotwire for travel in the next two weeks include:

-- $49 / night 4-Star hotel, Salt Lake City, Utah -- Downtown Salt Lake
City
-- $59 / night 3-Star hotel, Breckenridge, Colorado -- Silverthorne --
Frisco
-- $82 / night 4-Star hotel, Reno -- Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe
-- $100 / night 3-Star hotel, Park City, Utah -- Park City
-- $115 / night 3-Star hotel, Whistler, Canada -- Whistler Main Village
and Village North
-- $141 / night 4-Star condo, Reno - Tahoe, North Lake Tahoe
