MILWAUKEE, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Midwest Airlines today announced extensive enhancements to its flight schedule, including new nonstop service, increased frequency in existing markets and additional year-round service in markets that are currently seasonal.

Today's announcement is part of a series of product and service enhancements focusing on customer value and convenience that America's top- rated carrier is launching throughout 2005. These enhancements provide passengers with better schedules and better connections, and reinforce the importance of both its Milwaukee hometown -- where it is the market share leader -- and its Kansas City hub.

Thirteen Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect markets will benefit from the schedule enhancements, which are effective May 1 unless otherwise noted:

New Nonstop Service on Midwest Airlines
-- Kansas City-Boston, 1 daily roundtrip flight;
-- Kansas City-Los Angeles, 2 daily roundtrip flights

Increased Frequency on Midwest Airlines
-- Milwaukee-Atlanta, increasing to 3 daily roundtrip flights;
-- Milwaukee-Boston, increasing to 5 daily roundtrip flights beginning
April 10;
-- Milwaukee-Kansas City, increasing to 6 daily roundtrip flights;
-- Milwaukee-Las Vegas, increasing to 3 daily roundtrip flights;
-- Kansas City-New York La Guardia, increasing to 3 daily roundtrip
flights

Service Changing from Seasonal to Year-round on Midwest Airlines
-- Milwaukee-Ft. Lauderdale, 1 daily roundtrip flight;
-- Milwaukee-Tampa, 1 daily roundtrip flight;
-- Kansas City-Ft. Lauderdale, 1 daily roundtrip flight;
-- Kansas City-New Orleans, 2 daily roundtrip flights

Note: Additional service will be offered between Milwaukee and Florida from December through April each year.

Increased Frequency on Midwest Connect
-- Milwaukee-Nashville, increasing to 3 daily roundtrip flights;
-- Milwaukee-Pittsburgh, increasing to 4 daily roundtrip flights beginning
April 10

Additionally, service between Kansas City and Orange County, California will be discontinued beginning May 1. Passengers holding tickets for travel to or from Orange County after April 30 will be contacted by the airline and reaccommodated on other flights, including the airline's new nonstop service between Kansas City and Los Angeles.

Many of the new Midwest Airlines flights will operate as Midwest Airlines Signature Service, which provides business travelers with the comfort and space they need to work or relax, according to Scott R. Dickson, senior vice president and chief marketing officer. In addition, the change from seasonal to year-round service to Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa was the result of customer requests to expand the airline's popular low-fare Saver Service to those cities.

"We are fully committed to offering a superior, value-driven product that gives travelers a reason to choose us over the competition," Dickson said. "We've already seen strong customer response to our more aggressive pricing strategy and continued focus on customer service excellence, resulting in record advance bookings for March and April. With today's announcement, we now offer great service and customer-friendly schedules to all of the cities we serve from both Milwaukee and Kansas City."

Signature Service is offered almost exclusively on new Boeing 717 jet aircraft, featuring two-by-two seating comfort, extra legroom, and newly designed Recaro seats with adjustable headrests and footrests. Flights between Milwaukee and Florida cities are provided on Midwest Airlines Saver Service, with nonstop, low-fare flights to leisure destinations. The new Midwest Connect service will be offered on 328JET regional jets, which feature 32 reclining leather seats, and the widest and tallest passenger cabin in their class. The airline's trademark baked-onboard chocolate chip cookies are offered on most flights.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the United States, including Milwaukee's most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Skyway Airlines, Inc. -- its wholly owned subsidiary -- operates as Midwest Connect, which offers connections to Midwest Airlines as well as point-to-point service between select markets on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Together, the airlines offer service to 50 cities. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com/ .
