American Eagle Adds New Service to San Luis Potosi

FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle announced today that beginning Jan. 5, the carrier will add daily service between Dallas/Forth Worth International Airport and San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The carrier will operate one flight each day with its popular, state-of-the-art 44-seat ERJ-140 regional jets.

"New flights to San Luis Potosi will further expand American's network, giving our customers added flexibility and convenience when making their travel plans. In addition, the flights are conveniently timed to provide San Luis Potosi travelers early morning flights to American's Dallas/Fort Worth hub, with connecting options to hundreds of U.S. and international destinations."


San Luis Potosi is located northwest of Mexico City in central Mexico's high-plains region. It is the largest and most industrial of the old Silver Mining Cities, with more than a half million residents. In addition, San Luis Potosi is home to Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi, one of Mexico's main universities.


The new flights, now available for sale, will depart Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) at 6:16 p.m., arriving in San Luis Potosi (SLP) at 8:38 p.m. The return flight departs San Luis Potosi at 7:05 a.m., and arrives Dallas/Fort Worth at 9:15 a.m.


With new service to San Luis Potosi, American Eagle will fly to six cities in Mexico -- Aguascalientes, Leon, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Torreon. American Airlines has been serving Mexico for more than 60 years, since it began flying in 1942 from Dallas/Fort Worth to Monterrey with continuing service to Mexico City. Combined, American and American Eagle offer more than 275 flights a week to the United States from 12 cities in Mexico -- Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Cancun, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Leon, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Torreon.


In May 2004, American Airlines and Mexicana de Aviacion began codesharing on each other's flights between the United States and Mexico, the first phase of a wide-ranging codesharing arrangement that will strengthen each carrier's route system and provide increased flight options to customers of both airlines. In addition, a reciprocal frequent-flyer arrangement was established that enables members to accrue and redeem miles in American's AAdvantage(R) program or Mexicana's Frecuenta(R) program on each other's network, including more than 500 round trips per week between the United States and Mexico.
