Traveler's Search Engine to Power Flight, Hotel and Rental Car Search for National Network of Newspaper Sites

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- SideStep, Inc. (http://www.sidestep.com), the traveler's search engine, today announced a partnership with Knight Ridder Digital, the online division of the nation's second largest newspaper publisher. Through this alliance, SideStep will power travel search for Knight Ridder Digital's network of 31 newspaper sites, which includes prominent brands such as Herald.com, MercuryNews.com, Philly.com and Star-Telegram.com. The network has a total reach of 9.4 million monthly unique visitors (Nielsen//NetRatings, January 2005).

SideStep's powerful search technology queries online agencies, consolidators and the sites of the airlines, hotels and rental car agencies themselves to find the Web's best travel bargains. Clear, clean design, along with powerful filtering and comparison features such as SideStep SmartSort(SM), will make it easy for visitors to Knight Ridder Digital sites to find precisely what they're looking for from a wide range of compelling travel options.

"In forging a travel search partnership, we wanted to align ourselves with an industry leader," said Patricia Mitchell, Knight Ridder Digital vice president of national sales. "This partnership provides our readers with a distinctive and valuable new service," Mitchell continued, "and we're confident that SideStep travel search will be a key component of Knight Ridder Digital's online travel content."

"With some of the most prominent brands in publishing, Knight Ridder Digital attracts a large and valuable audience," said Brian Barth, SideStep's CEO. "In 2005, we plan to power travel search for a select set of online leaders, and SideStep will offer these companies proven scalability. Each month, millions of travelers successfully turn to SideStep to help them find compelling travel bargains," Barth continued. "This experience enables us serve our partners reliably -- no matter how much traffic they may bring."

Winner of the Forbes "Best of the Web" Award, SideStep helps consumers to find outstanding travel values through SideStep.com and the SideStep(TM) toolbar, as well as through TravelFinds Specials(SM) and TravelFinds Spotlight(SM), the company's popular email newsletters.
