Women & Wine(TM) Uncorks New Niche in Luxury Travel as the First Company Dedicated to Wine-Themed Itineraries for Women
LOS ANGELES, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Women's luxury travel, a growing trend, is gaining strength around the globe with the launch of a new company, Women & Wine(TM). The Los Angeles based company, founded by entrepreneur Julie Brosterman, is poised to become the benchmark for luxury wine travel for women. Brosterman discovered her love of wine in the 1980s with co-worker Kevin Zraly at New York's famed "Windows on the World." A longtime leading executive real estate consultant, she has long wanted to parlay her passions for wine, food and travel into a vital business. "Women are the majority of wine buyers in the U.S.," says Brosterman, "and, if people love food, they love wine and they love to travel; it's a natural. I realized, after much research, that no women's travel company was focusing on wine and the reaction from both the wine and travel industries has been phenomenal."
Women & Wine(TM) announces its first trips in Southern California. Just in time to celebrate the growing interest in Santa Barbara wines following the buzz around the Oscar-winning film "Sideways", Women & Wine(TM) has a two-day adventure in Santa Barbara wine country, April 6-8, 2005. A second experience in Los Angeles May 13-15, 2005 is planned around Los Angeles' top food and wine event.
Omega World Travel, the fifth largest travel agency in the country, is Women & Wine(TM)'s travel partner. Gloria Bohan, President and one of the travel industry's top women executives says, "This is the first time a travel company has specialized in wine and travel for women. Women have been reaching out to explore new horizons through travel, and Women & Wine(TM) offers the opportunity for customized trips or scheduled Women & Wine(TM) weekends. Bring a friend, a sister, classmate or colleague -- or plan a corporate retreat with Women & Wine(TM)."
The company offers customized and suggested itineraries throughout the U.S. from Napa Valley to the North Fork of Long Island. Additionally, Women and Wine(TM) plans to offer international destinations, including South Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, and Baja, Mexico. The trips can be independent or escorted travel.
Another first for a travel company, Women & Wine(TM) is creating a worldwide network of wine professionals to advise and/or participate in providing extraordinary experiences. The network is evolving, but contains some of the most recognized and respected names in wine including educator/author and head of the CIA Rudd Center for Wine Studies, Karen McNeil, Napa Valley wine guru John Thoreen, and the world's foremost wine historian Nina Wemyss. McNeil explains, "As they do with fashion, food and design, women have a special sensibility when it comes to wine. Having taught thousands of women around the country about wine, it's been an exhilarating experience for me to watch women deepen their understanding of one of the world's greatest pleasures. While there are lots of ways to experience wine, Women & Wine(TM) combines the best components: great wines with unforgettable experiences, and best of all, it happens in the company of intelligent women."
The first scheduled itinerary is the launch trip in Santa Barbara, April 6-8, 2005 at the country's only five-diamond bed and breakfast, Simpson House Inn (http://www.simpsonhouseinn.com). Participants will taste and discover the best of Santa Barbara County wineries, meet women winemakers and vintners and enjoy the finest tasting experiences with the city's best cuisine. The price for the two day experience, including a behind the scenes tour of Santa Ynez Valley wine country is $1695.00 including lodging, meals, local transportation, a spa treatment or other activity such as ocean kayaking. Following this trip, the first Women & Wine(TM) weekend will be held in Los Angeles May 13-15, 2005 which will include Southern California's finest food, wine and auction event, A Culinary Evening With The California Winemasters benefiting Cystic Fibrosis.
