MINISTRY OF DEFENCE News Release (041/2005) issued by the Government News Network on 14 March 2005 Free tickets are now available to join thousands of other veterans attending a special commemorative event in Horse Guards Parade on Sunday, 10th July.

Anyone who served in the armed forces or who played an active part in the Home Front during the Second World War is eligible to apply. Tickets will be issued in pairs so that a carer can accompany the veteran to London.

Minister for Veterans, Ivor Caplin said:

“The message is simple. Apply for tickets NOW or miss the opportunity to participate in what promises to be one of highlights of the year. I would encourage all veterans of WWII to join in the 60th commemorations whether in the Capital or in their own village, town or city – to celebrate the end of the conflict and to remember those fallen comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
