MILWAUKEE, March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Milwaukee-based Skyway Airlines, Inc., which operates as Midwest Connect (NYSE:MEH) , has been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) top honor in its Aviation Maintenance Technician awards program. The program recognizes exemplary training of maintenance technicians. The program's top honor -- the Diamond Award -- is the highest within five FAA categories.

To receive the award, air carriers must have 25% of their eligible maintenance technicians participate in a training program and receive an FAA certificate of achievement. For the eighth year in a row, Skyway Airlines recorded perfect 100% participation of its maintenance team. Additionally, to receive the award in the Diamond category, each technician must finish 100 hours of training, which includes the satisfactory completion of a 3-credit college-level course in mathematics, English, science, management or similar subjects. By comparison, the award program's next highest category -- Ruby -- requires 60 hours of training and no college-level course work.

"The maintenance technicians at Skyway Airlines have once again shown their commitment to both training excellence and safety by earning this award. It is my understanding that no other airline has earned this award eight years in a row," said Jim Rankin, president and chief executive officer. "I am very proud of our technicians' accomplishment and their dedication to the high standards this award represents."

Skyway technicians will receive their individual Diamond awards and pins at a special ceremony this Saturday at the Skyway Airlines Hangar.

Midwest Connect offers connections to Midwest Airlines as well as point- to-point service between select markets on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Together, the airlines offer service to 50 cities. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com/ .
