American Eagle Expands International Reach With New Service Between Dallas/Fort Worth and Chihuahua, Mexico

The ‘Lady of the Desert’ Becomes American Eagle’s Seventh Destination in Mexico

FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — American Eagle announced today that beginning May 1 the carrier will add daily nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the city of Chihuahua, Mexico. The carrier will operate one flight each day with its popular, state-of-the-art 50-seat ERJ-145 regional jets.

“As American continues its international growth, American Eagle is extending its reach into Mexico,” said Peter Bowler, President-American Eagle. “Our new service will provide travelers in both countries more flexibility and options.”

The city of Chihuahua, capital of the largest state in Mexico and known affectionately as the “Lady of the Desert,” sits in one of northern Mexico’s largest industrial areas and has almost a quarter of a million inhabitants.

The new flights are now available for sale. The schedule for the new service is as follows (all times local):

American Airlines has been serving Mexico for more than 60 years, since it began flying in 1942 from Dallas/Fort Worth to Monterrey with continuing service to Mexico City.

With the addition of Chihuahua, American and American Eagle combined will offer more than 280 flights a week to the United States from 13 cities in Mexico – Acapulco, Aguascalientes, Cancun, Chihuahua, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Leon, Los Cabos, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Torreon.
