These area establishments join a select group of AAA Four Diamond winners.
Only 3.4 percent of the more than 32,000 AAA-rated lodgings and just 3 percent of the estimated 25,000 restaurants attain this high level of excellence.
The Four Diamond symbol will be included in each winning establishment’s listing in the 2006 AAA North Central TourBook(R) travel guide. AAA’s more than 48 million members depend upon TourBook guides to assist them with their travel-related decisions.
Each year, more than 65 AAA/CAA tourism editors visit more than 70,000 lodgings, campgrounds, restaurants and attractions throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. During their unannounced evaluations, they scrutinize area such as cleanliness, ambiance, amenities, and service, and assign a rating of one to five diamonds to the qualifying establishments.
AAA began listing lodging information in its travel publications in the early 1900s and officially began rating properties in 1963. It adopted the Diamond rating system in 1977 in celebration of AAA’s 75th anniversary. Restaurant evaluations began in 1986.
