(PRWEB) August 17, 2005 -- African American Golfer’s Digest, the nation’s leading publication for avid black golfers and The Whitfield Foundation are conducting a unique travel opportunity to experience golf on some of Kenya’s finest golf courses with PGA/LPGA Legend and First Lady of Golf Renee Powell. Renee Powell is Head Golf Professional at the historic Clearview Golf Course in East Canton, Ohio and she will be present for the duration of the fully escorted 12-day tour.

A ‘Bon Voyage’ Cocktail Reception will be held prior to departure at the Dulles Marriott. Non-golfers are also welcomed on the trip as activities throughout the tour include a safari drive and bush picnic, restaurant dine-arounds, visit to local community school, coffee farm and tea estate, safari parks, museums, mamba village, cultural garment fittings and a fashion show. Golfers will have the opportunity for tee-times at featured golf courses throughout Nairobi and to play in an amateur tournament.

“The Golf Safari is a chance to promote foreign investment and exchange between touring visitors while visiting Kenya. The communication of such a ‘production fixed program’ enhances a financial future gain between the two Nations (Kenya and USA),” says Malvin Whitfield, Founder of the Whitfield Foundation. Whitfield is a five-time Olympic Medalist, African Affairs Consultant and Foreign Service Officer -(Retired) and author of “Beyond The Finish Line.”

“Marvelous Mal,” as he was called during his career as a premier distance runner, was the first soldier on active duty to win a Gold Medal for armed services, and the first Black American to be given the prestigious Sullivan Award. During his nearly 34 years of government service Whitfield traveled to some 132 countries conducted training clinics, counseled, and coached some of the African continent’s greatest athletes including, Mamo Wolde and Meruts Yifter of Ethiopia. “Kip” Keino refers to Mal Whitfield as the “Father of Organized Athletics” in Africa.

Included in the tour is a full-day educational seminar on "Business Opportunities in Kenya”. The session will offer networking and discussion with top leaders and Ministers in Kenya with business-to-business appointments scheduled for guests interested in pursuing investment, sports development, manufacturing and import and export initiatives in Africa. The program will be followed by lunch with the Kenya National Chamber.

Air transportation is being provided by Ethiopia Airlines and accommodations include three nights at the panoramic Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Course and seven-nights at the lavish, 5-star Windsor Golf Resort & Country Club. The Windsor is a black-owned resort property and the group will hold its Founders Gala and Cultural Dinner on the premises. According to Mal Whitfield, “This program is the historical event of the 21st Century.”
