Will AirTran Airways Celebrate Today's Georgia Aquarium Opening? Only When Whales Fly!
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AAI) , today announced that it will serve special packs of cheese crackers shaped like whales to passengers on every flight to celebrate the airline's role as a presenting sponsor for the Georgia Aquarium. The whale crackers will be served on flights for a limited time. The aquarium, which is the largest in the world, officially opens today.
"AirTran Airways is very proud of our partnership with the Georgia Aquarium, and we want to let our passengers in on the celebration," said Tad Hutcheson, AirTran Airways' vice president of marketing and sales. "Not only are the crackers a delicious snack, but they are also an effective tool that will help inform the public about the opening of the new aquarium in Atlanta today. The Georgia Aquarium is a one-of-a-kind facility that will greatly benefit the Atlanta community and the state of Georgia, home of our largest hub. We want to do all we can to help ensure it is a great success."
AirTran Airways is one of six presenting sponsors for various galleries at the aquarium. AirTran Airways' gallery, called Tropical Diver -- The Coral Kingdom, is like a paradise under the sea with mesmerizing jellies, seahorses, fairy basslets, yellow-head jawfish, and other jewels of the sea. The living reef exhibit is large, with thousands of colorful reef fishes moving throughout.
The Georgia Aquarium, located near Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, is home to more than 100,000 fish in more than eight million gallons of water. One habitat alone has more than six million gallons of water and was built specifically to accommodate whale sharks, the largest fish in the world.
