AirTran Airways Launches New Service to the Motor City
Airline Begins Daily Nonstop Service to/from Atlanta and Orlando; Sarasota Service Begins February 15, 2006
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AAI) , today launched new, daily nonstop service from the Smith Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Atlanta and Orlando. Flights from Detroit to Sarasota Bradenton International Airport are scheduled to begin on February 15, 2006.
To celebrate its latest addition to its quickly expanding route network, AirTran Airways teamed up with retired Detroit Tigers legend Kirk Gibson to hold an inaugural event at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport this morning. At an inaugural ceremony, the famous home run slugger was named an honorary AirTran Airways Captain.

"We have been working closely with the Wayne County Airport Authority and business leaders in the area in recent months to ensure that AirTran Airways and America's youngest all-Boeing fleet will bring more travel options to the Motor City."
