State-of-the-Art Club Offers Convenience and Quiet Escape

NEW YORK, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today, American Airlines opened the doors to its newest Admirals Club facility at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. The club is part of Phase 1 of American's new, state-of-the-art $1.1 billion terminal.

As part of the JFK Admirals Club grand opening, American is offering a $50 discount for new memberships purchased now through Sept. 7. Purchases must be made in-person at any of the New York-area Admirals Clubs, including JFK, New York's LaGuardia Airport and Newark International Airport.

The new Admirals Club lounge covers 11,300 square feet, seating 183 people. The Club brings a slice of the Big Apple to travelers from around the world. Capturing the distinctive history and essence of New York, the Admirals Club is adorned with vintage photographs depicting everything from the excavation of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to historic games at Yankee Stadium, Ebbetts Field and the Polo Grounds. The floor in the shower facility is embedded with replicas of New York City manhole covers.

"We are pleased to open this exceptional Admirals Club facility, which provides state-of-the-art amenities to busy travelers," said Nancy Knipp, Managing Director of Premium Services for American. "We're providing a lounge that offers members a place to escape before or after a flight to work or relax, away from the hustle and bustle of the airport. We also went to great lengths to ensure that this club truly reflects the culture and architecture of New York City."

Open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., the Club is located in Concourse C of the new terminal across from Gate 42 and convenient to a variety of new shops and the main concession area. Complimentary snacks, juice, tea, coffee and soft drinks are offered.

The Admirals Club offers first-rate premium services to members, including personal assistance with reservations, seat selection and upgrades, as well as boarding passes. The Club also is staffed with personnel fluent in Spanish, French and Portuguese to assist international travelers.

Admirals Club customers can take advantage of the multifunctional Business Center, which includes personal computers with complimentary high-speed Internet, telephones, fax and PC data ports. Other amenities include a spa- like shower facility, flat-panel televisions with DIRECTV(R) service and a Children's Room, which offers two personal computers and a flat-panel television, featuring age-appropriate programming like Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network.

American wants every customer to experience the productivity, comfort and convenience offered at its Admirals Club lounges worldwide.
