American Airlines Announces New Items for Food on Board Snack Boxes

Spurred By Customer Demand, Program Offers Convenience in the Sky

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Beginning today, American Airlines is rolling out new Food on Board snack boxes for passengers in the main cabin of select flights. Starting Aug. 1, American Airlines will extend the Food on Board snack box program on select flights departing from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Currently the program is available from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The time extension allows customers on 38 additional flights the option to purchase snack boxes and expands the service to more than 650 domestic routes.

Customers continue to respond favorably to the Food on Board program and passenger ratings for taste and appearance of food on domestic, non-transcontinental flights increased more than seven points when the program was introduced in February. American also offers morning sandwiches/wraps on select flights departing from 6 a.m. to 9:59 a.m. and afternoon sandwiches/wraps on select flights departing between 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

With summer travel at an all-time high, American is pleased to offer passengers a convenient and affordable option for purchasing food when traveling. Based on positive feedback from customers and employees, the new boxes feature typical everyday snack items travelers enjoy at home. The snack boxes include long-time favorites such as chips and salsa. For those with a sweet tooth, cookies are also included.

The morning snack box includes a Nabisco Wheat Thins(R), Nabisco Fig Newtons(R), Newman’s Own(R) raisins, Knott’s Berry Farm(R) jelly and Sunbutter(R). The afternoon snack box contains Barrel O’Fun(R) Tortilla Chips, Heinz(R) Salsa Sauce & Dip, Gourmet(R) Cheddar Cheese Sauce, O’Brien’s Honeycured Turkey Stick and Nabisco Lorna Doone(R) Shortbread Cookies. Snack boxes are available for $3.

* More than 600 select domestic routes longer than three hours and on
transcontinental and Hawaii flights
* Select international routes, such Boston to Cancun, Chicago to Cancun
and New York Kennedy to Cancun
* Most American Eagle flights
