American Eagle Adds Service Between Gulfport-Biloxi and Dallas/Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, will add nonstop service between Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport beginning October 30. American Eagle will operate two daily round- trip flights between the two cities using 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 jets.

Sunny beaches, world-class casinos and abundant diversions await travelers to the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast with easy connections at Dallas/Fort Worth from other points in Texas, the Midwest and neighboring Western States.

“I was pleased to work with American Eagle toward obtaining this service expansion,” said U.S. Senator Trent Lott (R-Mississippi). “This is the latest in a number of major air-service upgrades bringing more flight options to Mississippians and making our state more accessible to incoming recreational and business travelers. Dallas/Fort Worth is a major international hub, and this certainly means significant new marketing opportunities for businesses along the Gulf Coast.”

“The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is in the forefront of technology development, as a testing ground for Homeland Security, and is an asset to the growth of new business and tourism on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi). “American Eagle’s daily service from Gulfport to Dallas/Fort Worth represents the important business climate that exists on the Coast. I am pleased that American Eagle has chosen Gulfport-Biloxi for new service.”

“In addition to new exciting connecting opportunities on American via DFW, the Dallas/Fort Worth area is a very important business destination for the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said Frank Genzer, Airport Authority Chairman, Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport.

“Airport officials have been working to encourage DFW service for several years,” said Ken Spirito, Assistant Executive Director, Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. “We think the balanced growth of the gaming industry, military and federal installations and Coast business and industry has spurred American’s move.”
