American Express Company Contributes $1 Million to Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Express Company today announced that it will donate $1 million to the American Red Cross to support the relief efforts across Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi to aid those affected by the devastating hurricane.
An immediate donation of $500,000 will be made from the American Express Foundation and the remaining $500,000 will be a guaranteed minimum match of employee donations. If employees donate more, the company will match more.
In addition to these efforts, American Express will provide assistance to affected customers and clients during this difficult time.
