The Anguilla Tourist Board and Hotel Partners Bring the Anguilla Experience to New York

New York, New York, June 2006 --- The Anguilla Tourist Board and the island’s private sector hosted the “Anguilla Experience” for 150+ members of the travel trade in New York City, the first initiative in what they hope to be a series of partnerships to market the island.

Held at New York’s famed St. Regis Hotel, “The Anguilla Experience” took guests on a mini Anguilla vacation through interactive experiences showcasing the island’s food, drinks, music, attractions and special Anguilla vibe.

The ATB partnered with 4 resorts, each of which offers a truly unique and extraordinary vacation experience -- Cap Juluca; CuisinArt Resort & Spa; Malliouhana Hotel & Spa; and St. Regis Residences, Temenos Anguilla --- and the Charming Escapes Collection, 16 select hotels, villas and inns which offer a very affordable escape to the island.

“We wanted to do something different, to take travel agents on a mini Anguilla vacation here in New York City, to whet their appetites for the real thing, and inspire them to send their clients to discover our special gem,” stated Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch, Director of Tourism.

The special experiences included:

§ Chef Dale Carty of Tasty's Restaurant demonstrated the Personal In Room Dining Experience at the Charming Escapes Collection with his signature Anguillian specialties;

§ The Charming Escapes also showcased their mobile spa program offering agents five minute spa massages;

§ St. Regis Residences, Temenos Anguilla, set to open the island’s first 18 hole championship course this November, offered golf tips and pointers on a golf simulator with their Golf Club Manager, Dana Schmid, and the latest updates on this fantastic product.

§ CuisinArt Resort & Spa brought in their famous kitchen stadium, as their cooking classes are legendary. Chef Athenia conducted food demonstrations and tastings, and discussed the one-on-one culinary learning experiences offered at the resort.

§ Malliouhana and Cap Juluca, both of whom can justly claim the title of pioneers in Anguilla’s hotel industry, provided information on the latest special summer offers and programs for agents.

§ Anguilla’s own musical superstar, Bankie Banx, capped off the evening with a stellar performance and an invitation to join him in Anguilla for his Moonsplash Music Festival.
