Anguilla Sweeps Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards
NEW YORK, NY, OCTOBER 2006…Anguilla made a clean sweep at the prestigious Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, landing in the top ten for best destination and stealing the show with top Caribbean resort honors at the awards ceremony held at the Museum of Natural History in New York City on Monday, October 16, 2006.
The island was enviably recognized as a coveted escape for the magazine’s readers, taking fourth place honors for the Top Destination Caribbean/Atlantic Islands.
Anguilla dominated the Best Caribbean Resort Category, taking three of the top ten spots. Malliouhana Hotel & Spa was named best resort in the Caribbean, with CuisinArt coming in at fourth place, followed by Cap Juluca with sixth place honors. Maria Menounes, hostess of Access Hollywood and regular contributor to NBC-TV’s “Today Show” presented the award to Malliouhana’s Leon Roydon. In accepting the award, Roydon thanked his employees and the readers of Conde Nast Traveler for selecting Malliouhana as their # 1 Caribbean resort for the second year in a row. Malliouhana was also ranked #44 among the top 100 rated cruise, inns, hotels, resorts worldwide.
“We are delighted that the readers of Conde Nast recognize how special Anguilla truly is, and that sophistication and style are not reserved for the major cities of the world,” stated Marie Walker, Regional Director, USA.
The star studded list of celebrity presenters during the evening included Natasha Richardson, Liam Neesom, Carmen Electra, Dana Delaney, Ivanka Trump, Drea de Matteo, Maria Menounos, Joshua Jackson and Sandra Bernard.
The Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards spotlights the very best travel properties and services in the world, as rated by the readers of this leading travel magazine. It is by far the largest and most trusted ranking of luxury travel, and the results are profiled in the November 2006 issue of the magazine.
