Financial Communications Society Hosts Weekend Fund-Raiser for 'Kid-Focused' Charities

U.S. Olympian and World Champion Doug Lewis to Lead Skiers in One-Of-A-Kind Event

NEW YORK, Dec. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The Financial Communications Society (FCS) will host its Sixth Annual Race for Kids ski/snowboard event at Stowe Mountain, Vermont from Thursday, January 5th through Sunday, January 8th, 2006. The weekend-long event raises money for three charities focused on children: The Make-a-Wish Foundation of Vermont, Downey Side, and The Hope and Heroes Children's Cancer Fund. Over the past five years, the event has raised nearly $600,000 for these charities. Race for Kids 2006 is supported by more than 50 corporate and local sponsors.

"Race for Kids is a wonderful event that brings together friends and colleagues for an important cause," said Karen List, President of the FCS. "Through the fantastic generosity of our sponsors and skiers, the money we raise continues to make a real difference to children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases and to children hoping for adoption into a loving home."

The Race for Kids competition attracts teams of skiers and snowboarders from the financial, advertising and media industries from across the Northeast. With recreational skiing offered throughout the event, the Race itself is held on Saturday, January 7th. Over 20 teams are expected to compete.

"Skiers find Race for Kids to be a great and challenging competition," said Tim Hart, Co-Chair for the event. "But it's the whole weekend of activity that brings so many to Stowe each year."

Once again, Race for Kids welcomes its special guest U.S. Olympian Doug Lewis, who was a two-time U.S. National Downhill Champion and a World Championship Medallist. Mr. Lewis will be on-hand for the Saturday afternoon race and the Awards Ceremony and Reception that follows.
