The first annual Festival of Food and Wine at the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa...

A selection of the best chefs in the country is coming to the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa to share trade secrets and enjoy fine food and wine. The Lake Placid resort is hosting its first annual Festival of Food and Wine, May 17-19, 2006. The three-day event will teach and entertain food lovers amidst majestic views of the Adirondack high peaks.

The inn’s executive chef, Paul Sorgule, has invited six of his distinguished colleagues from throughout the culinary world to Lake Placid to share their knowledge and break bread with food and wine enthusiasts. Festival attendees will have the rare ability to share in the bond that exists in the culinary field and return home with a complete recipe packet for personal use.

The three day festival will include:

A champagne welcome reception
Lecture series, demonstrations and seminars
Presentations on topics such as classic Austrian cooking, new directions in American cooking and cooking for the cure (breast cancer)
A ready-set cook competition between the Mirror Lake Inn kitchen staff and the guest chefs
A vinters’ wine reception followed by a seven-course tasting menu presented by members of the 1988 New England Culinary Olympic Team
A wine seminar and tasting with vinters and enologists
A five-course farewell dinner presented by the Mirror Lake Inn Culinary Team
Overnight accommodations for three nights at the Mirror Lake Inn

The visiting chefs hail from such establishments as the Culinary Institute of America and the New England Culinary Institute. Many were also members of various Culinary Olympic Teams. Each chef brings a different background of education and experience from all over the globe.

The festival is already scheduled for next year, April 18-20, 2007. For an itinerary and biographies of attending chefs please visit http://www.mirrorlakeinn.com/dining/ and click on Festival of Food and Wine. The package is $785 per person or $1240 per couple.
