Avalanche Bay(TM) and Mountain Grand(TM) Lodge and Spa Open

The Centerpiece of Boyne Mountain’s Renaissance Unveiled

BOYNE FALLS, Mich., May 25 /PRNewswire/ — The single largest investment in Northern Michigan’s hospitality industry history was officially unveiled today in celebration of the completion of the Mountain Grand(TM) Lodge and adjoining Avalanche Bay(TM) Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain.

The $70 million, 220-room Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa luxury condominium- hotel and 88,000 square foot Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark are the result of a unique partnership between Boyne USA Resorts and New Frontiers Capital, LLC, the Auburn Hills-based recreational and entertainment investment firm that helped develop both properties.

Doors will be open to the general public beginning Friday, May 27.

“Today is a great day at Boyne Mountain as we celebrate the unveiling of the centerpiece of our renaissance,” said Stephen Kircher, President of Boyne USA Resorts’ Eastern Operations.

His late father, Everett Kircher, was a pioneer of the downhill ski industry and his innovative spirit was introduced to Northern Michigan when he created Boyne Mountain over 56 years ago. Championship golf followed, along with a host of other recreational activities that made Boyne Mountain a vacation tradition for families all across the Midwest.

“The addition of the two new facilities represents the start of an exciting new chapter in Boyne’s history — one that is designed to attract an entirely new generation of families to the resort,” said Kircher.

Randy Dzierzawski, president of New Frontiers Capital, LLC agrees with Kircher. “The most significant part of today is not just the opening of these two exciting new properties, but the fact that Avalanche Bay and the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa are being combined with the Midwest’s best golf and skiing, 3,000 acres of hiking and biking trails and other recreational activities to make Boyne Mountain Michigan’s first year-round weatherproof vacation resort.”

Inspired by the finest mountain lodges in Europe, the Alpine ambience of the Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa is luxury without pretense — a savvy blend of old-world authentic combined with the up-to-the-minute appointments and amenities of a boutique hotel. Custom textiles and furniture, wrought-iron work and hand-hewn pine are mixed with flagstone, bronze, granite and glass. All guest rooms feature flat-screen TVs, wireless high-speed Internet along with hand-painted furniture and an exclusive bedding package superior to those marketed by other luxury hotel properties.

Solace Spa features an extensive menu of services inspired by the four seasons of Northern Michigan. This 18,000 square foot facility includes 19 treatment rooms, a premier line of products and experienced staff to set a new Midwest standard in destination spa experiences.

With 88,000 square feet of rides, slides, waves and pools, Avalanche Bay is designed to deliver an aquatic experience for all ages. Boyne Mountain anticipates raising the bar for waterpark enthusiasts with its winter wonderland thematic treatment, toboggan and tube slides, Rip Zone surf simulator (Michigan’s first), climbing walls and towers, professionally supervised day programs, spacious locker and family changing areas and a mega- arcade with over 100 games.

The new Mountain Grand(TM) Lodge and Spa & Avalanche Bay(TM) Indoor Waterpark offer four seasons of activities: snowsports, golf, spa, indoor, and outdoor water recreation and convention services. Mountain Grand Lodge and Avalanche Bay are owned and operated by Boyne USA Resorts and New Frontiers Capital, LLC in partnership as Boyne Mountain Management, LLC and Boyne Mountain Recreation, LLC.
