Barcelo Hotels & Resorts Reports that its Riviera Maya Resort has Returned to Business as Usual Following Hurricane Wilma

CANCUN, Mexico, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ — Barcelo Hotels & Resorts is pleased to report that The Barcelo Maya Beach Resort is accepting new guest arrivals and has fully reopened for business today with nearly all of its guest rooms and amenities operational. The resort has 1,458 guest rooms in service and with the exception of one beachside Grill, all restaurants and facilities are fully operational following Hurricane Wilma.

“Thanks to the hard work of our Barcelo property team and area officials we have been able to quickly repair the minor damage that was caused by the recent storm, and restore all guest services at the Barcelo Maya Beach Hotel and the Barcelo Caribe Beach Hotel,” said Oscar Serrano, Commercial Director for Barcelo Hotels & Resorts. “In addition, our two new resorts, The Barcelo Tropical Beach Hotel and The Barcelo Colonial Beach Hotel will open as scheduled for the winter season,” added Serrano.

In Cancun, work is underway at the Barcelo Tucancun Resort to repair hurricane damage, and the hotel is also expected to reopen at the beginning of the 2006 winter season. Further updates will be issued as progress continues.
