Belly Dancing Festival Comes to Dominican
If you don’t know what a “shimmy chaser” is, then you’re probably not a big fan of belly dancing. Too bad, because this March the world's best belly dancers will take the Dominican Republic by storm in what promises to be one of the biggest belly dancing festivals ever. Festival Isis de Baile Oriental invites shimmy chasers from around the world to immerse themselves in the art and mystery of belly dancing in a Caribbean paradise from March 15-21, 2010. The week-long festival will highlight international belly dancing stars such as Fifi Abdou, Randa Kamel, Mohamed el Hosseny, and Saida, as well as global pop sensation Alabina. “Festival Isis de Baile Oriental is about celebrating life,” says festival producer Sylvia Richards. “Our mission is to offer an upscale belly dancing festival with the best instructors in the world. Our vision is to tell a story, to transport participants to a place of magic and dreams.” Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy dozens of dance workshops in any style imaginable, and attend numerous performances given by the stars. When they are not dancing their hearts out, guests may bask on white sand beaches, savor a rich culinary blend of local and international flavors, relax in their beautifully appointed rooms, browse handmade belly dancing crafts, and explore all that the Dominican Republic has to offer. At night, participants will be transported from the Caribbean to ancient Egyptia, as they partake in numerous themed galas. In addition, festival attendees will be able to delight in all-inclusive packages, which include luxury dining options and water activities. The festival has arranged discounted hotel packages at Barceló Bávaro resort in Punta Cana, one of the classiest properties in the Dominican Republic. To register, or for more information, log on to www.festivalisis.com before Feb. 15.
