BERWYN, Ill., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ — Berwyn’s Historic Depot District Special Events Committee is continuing its Festival of Lights tradition. The Committee will again be teaming up with the Berwyn Park District to make this year’s celebration a spectacular neighborhood event. The festival will be held in Berwyn’s Depot District on Saturday, December 9, 2006 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Come take a ride on the Polar Express, sponsored by the Berwyn Park District, and continue on into the night with a walk or ride through a magically transformed Depot District of Lights.
The community is invited to enjoy carolers and strolling holiday performers, visit participating businesses, enjoy complimentary refreshments and in-house entertainment, as well as participate in special sales and drawings. The Committee will host a silent auction and auction items will be displayed at participating business open houses. Horse drawn carriages (reservations required), heated trolleys (bring a canned good or non- perishable item and receive $1.00 off trolley fee) and tractor-pulled hayrides will transform Berwyn’s Historic Depot District into a delightful winter scene of yesteryear. Rides will proceed through the Festival’s decorated areas, to Proksa Park and back to the Depot District. Once there, continue your holiday stroll, visit with Santa and enjoy the musical sounds of a winter wonderland.
Obtain an official ballot at local participating merchants and vote for your favorite decorated home, block, business or Berwyn school-decorated tree at Proksa Park. Voting ballots can be picked up and dropped off at any of our open house participants from December 4 through December 9, 2006.
Ring in the holiday season with community pride and traditional festive spirit. Mark your calendars. Don’t miss it!
