Boingo Subscribers Receive First Class Wi-Fi Treatment at Boston’s Logan International Airport

Advanced Wireless Group and Boingo Wireless Sign Roaming Agreement to Add Key East Coast Hub to Boingo Roaming System

SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 7 /PRNewswire/ — Advanced Wireless Group, LLC (AWG) and Boingo Wireless today announced a roaming agreement to add Logan International Airport in Boston to the Boingo(R) Roaming System international Wi-Fi hot spot network.

Logan International Airport ranks in the top 20 U.S. airports and is a key transportation hub for New England, serving more than 26 million passengers annually. AWG and the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) launched the airport’s first Wi-Fi system in June 2004.

Travelers with service from Boingo or its Platform Services partners can access the Internet throughout all Logan terminals, from curbside check-in to gate areas, concessions and baggage claim. The addition of Logan brings the number of airports in the Boingo Roaming System to 116 worldwide. The roaming system has a total of 17,400 hot spots in all 50 U.S. states and 50 countries.

According to Massport, roughly 60 percent of Logan’s passengers are business travelers. The airport supports the region’s convention, research and technology industries and is frequently cited as one of the most “business-friendly” airports in the country.

“Given Boingo’s strong commitment to the business road warrior, a major business travel hub such as Logan is a significant addition to our portfolio of locations and reinforces our dedication to delivering the most advanced and convenient Wi-Fi service,” said Colby Goff, VP of business development and network strategy for Boingo. “With Boingo Wireless available at JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia as well, traveling the Northeast Corridor just got that much better.”

“Wi-Fi hot spots are becoming an extremely attractive ‘must have’ service for our passengers. AWG’s addition of Boingo as a roaming partner at Logan is further evidence of Massport’s commitment to provide our customers their ‘freedom of choice’ in selecting Internet Service Providers,” said Francis Anglin, Director of Information Systems for Massport.

“Boingo is an ideal partner for us in realizing Massport’s goal of providing neutral host Wi-Fi services to their passengers,” said Scott Phillips of EMS, Co-Managing Member of AWG.

Through its Platform Services offering, Boingo provides service providers with a turnkey Wi-Fi service, including the network, award-winning client access software, and a complete suite of back-office billing, roaming, mediation and clearinghouse services. To date, the company has announced Platform Services agreements with BT Infonet, EarthLink, Fiberlink, MCI, Nextel Communications and Telecom Italia.
