Bolongo Bay Beach Resort Targets Incentive Group Business With Enhanced Offerings

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (Nov. 6, 2006) — Bolongo Bay Beach Resort in St. Thomas is taking the incentive business to new heights by redefining what it means to offer personalized and customized vacation experiences through its “Unforgettable Events” premiere occasion services. Recent upgrades to its dining venues and property enhancements reflect Bolongo’s new emphasis on cultivating the growing and profitable incentive business.

“We offer an excellent venue for incentive groups and a creative, superior staff for handling every detail of a group’s needs from start to finish,” said Richard J. Doumeng, managing director of the 65-room Bolongo Bay Beach Resort. “Our Unforgettable Events team provides the attention to detail that every group desires, and they work with each meeting planner to customize their group’s experience at Bolongo.

“Incentive groups can literally take over the entire hotel, making for a private Caribbean paradise where they’re the most important guests. Unlike at large properties, our incentive travelers don’t get lost in the shuffle, and this mindset combined with our high-quality food and beverage, impeccable service and wide range of activities is what differentiates us from the competition,” said Doumeng.

Customized Meetings

Bolongo’s Unforgettable Events staff is extremely skilled at designing tailored experiences to meet the individual tastes and budgets of incentive groups. Some of the options that groups can integrate into their agenda include customized team-building activities, welcome receptions, Beach Olympics, all-day sails, sunset cruises, beach barbecues, karaoke, volleyball tournaments and much more. Sample packages are as follows: “Stress Free Meeting,” “Outdoor Inspiration,” “Brainstorm Around the Bonfire,” “Recess Release” and “Incredible Incentive.”

Meetings Facilities

Bolongo offers a variety of venues for groups to host their functions including the 1,000 ft., palm-lined beach at Iggie’s Beach Bar & Grill, the romantic pool deck at the Lobster Grille overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the 53 ft. “Heavenly Days” catamaran. Groups can also choose the traditional conference room to host their meeting. Bolongo’s conference room features DSL connection, podium with microphone, television with DVD player, LCD projector and projection screen, and tele-conference phone.

Making it convenient for travelers to view e-mail and stay in touch with the office, Bolongo now offers new WIFI hotspots around its pool and lounge areas — all which can be accessed via a guest’s wireless laptop. For those who don’t want to travel with their personal computer, guests can purchase phone cards in Bolongo’s gift shop to be used in conjunction with the resort’s Internet kiosk located in the lounge.

Dining Delights ‘Cook Up’ Incentives

Savory and imaginative food and beverage is a key element of any incentive program. Bolongo’s menu flexibility and dining diversity appeal to the wide array of culinary tastes found in any incentive group.

Under the direction of Chef Ric Aide, Bolongo has transformed its food and beverage offerings for incentive travelers. The resort’s two restaurants – the newly introduced Lobster Grille and Iggie’s Beach Bar & Grill – afford spectacular views in casual open-air settings.

The Lobster Grille, featuring a one-of-a-kind menu highlighting Caribbean lobster, serves savory seafood dishes, mouthwatering filet mignon and a selection of delicious appetizers, entrées and desserts all prepared with a contemporary Caribbean flair.

Incentive groups staying on Bolongo’s All-Inclusive plan will enjoy the culinary excellence of dining a la carte at the Lobster Grille at no additional charge (surcharges are applied to lobsters chosen by guests that are over one-and-a-half pounds and large cuts of beef).

“Bolongo never limits groups to buffet-style dining — our a la carte dining options are available seven days a week,” said Doumeng. “I don’t know of another all-inclusive that can say ‘you never have to go through a buffet.’ It’s the same with drinks. Everything is top-shelf, premium brands. Our local beer is offered, but guests can still choose imported brands,” Doumeng noted.

Iggie’s Beach Bar & Grill, recently voted “Best Beach Bar in the Caribbean” by Caribbean Travel & Life readers, creates the perfect atmosphere for those who want to kick back, relax and enjoy flavorful food and spirits — and then engage in fun-filled karaoke.

In addition to the restaurants, Bolongo sets the night a-sizzle with festive theme parties — including Carnival Night — sure to get incentive groups grooving.

For those extra special touches, Bolongo has an Amenity Guide featuring a variety of items that can be delivered to guests’ rooms. The menu includes wine, beer, after-dinner cordials, late-night snacks, Cruzan Rum cigars, the Bolongo Beach Bag (containing a sun visor, sunscreen, disposable camera and Virgin Islands playing cards), the Bring the Caribbean Home package (“Caribe Caribe” CD, bottle of Bolongo Rum, set of four shot glasses and Caribbean-style Bartenders Guide), and much more.

Aside from handling in-house incentive business, Bolongo welcomes groups booked elsewhere on the island to incorporate an event and/or dine-around experience at the hotel into their program. The resort can easily accommodate parties for 10 to 500 people.

No Passport Required

As a territory of the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands does not require American citizens to possess a passport to enter the destination. As such, the USVI will be unaffected by the new passport rules going into effect in January 2007.

As an added value, U.S.-based companies will be able to deduct the cost of company meetings held in the U.S. Virgin Islands because of its U.S. territory status.

Sites of St. Thomas

Groups staying at Bolongo can take in the sites and attractions of St. Thomas. The island offers duty-free shopping in Charlotte Amalie, the island’s capital; an intriguing look at treasures below sea level at the Coral World Underwater Observatory; a walk back in time with historic government buildings and attractions that date back to the 18th century; and easy access to nearby St. John.

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort

Incentive groups can choose from Bolongo’s value-oriented European Plan (EP) or comprehensive All-Inclusive program when booking their stay at the property. The resort’s EP vacation includes accommodations in an ocean view room; a “discover scuba diving” in-pool lesson; complimentary use of non-motorized watersports (snorkel gear, paddle boats, sunfish sailboats, windsurfing equipment, kayaks and much more); use of basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, plus equipment; and nightly entertainment.

Bolongo’s All-Inclusive option encompasses all of the features of the EP option PLUS all meals (seven days a week of a la carte dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner at two of the most popular restaurants on St. Thomas); a wide array of beverages including all premium brands; and hotel taxes and gratuities.

Bolongo features 65 beach front rooms curved around crescent-shaped, palm-lined Bolongo Bay. Each room is a non-smoking room and includes a private balcony as well as many of the comforts of home including a mini-refrigerator, coffeemaker, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, color cable television, hair dryer, radio alarm clock, iron and ironing board, safe and telephone.
