Company Focused on Relief Effort and Unsure About Operations Timetable

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE:BYD) today reported that upon preliminary review, its Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana, was not significantly damaged as a result of Hurricane Katrina. However, there is no assurance that a more detailed inspection will not identify additional damage. The Company does not know when operations at Treasure Chest may resume.

William S. Boyd, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said, "We are deeply concerned for the health and safety of our employees, and they remain our highest priority at this point. To help them in the near-term, we will continue to pay our Treasure Chest employees for the next eight weeks, assuming we are still closed, and then we will re-evaluate the situation at that time. First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with all of those impacted by Hurricane Katrina."
