World-Class Sporting Grounds Coming to BriarRose Country Estate & Club

WHITE PLAINS, Ga., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ — A World-class sporting ground is the latest amenity to be announced at The BriarRose Country Estate & Club, the private golf and equestrian community now taking shape near White Plains in Georgia’s Oconee River Valley.

The BriarRose Sporting Grounds will be located on a 500-acre tract on Georgia Highway 15, about three miles west of the main entrance to The BriarRose community, according to Jeff Davis, president of The BriarRose Land Co. of Athens, the community’s developer.
The community has retained internationally acclaimed designer John Higgins of The British Shooting School (www.BritishShooting.com) to design and oversee construction of the game clays course and serve as the “Chief Coach,” Davis said.

Mr. Higgins has helped design and build over 50 private and resort shooting operations around the world, including The Sea Island Shooting School and The Ford Plantation Sporting Clays Course, both in Georgia, and The Greenbrier Gun Club at the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia.

Construction of the BriarRose game clays course is underway, with completion coming in the spring of 2006. Also planned is a members lodge, which is expected to be under construction by next spring, Davis said.

The course will cover about 50 acres, Davis said. The remaining acreage will accommodate upland wing shooting, fly-fishing lakes and instruction areas, youth archery and air rifle range, and an all-terrain vehicle course. Also envisioned is a collection of luxury sportsman cabins, with prices from $400,000 to over $700,000, Davis said.

“With an on-site game clays course, a championship golf course, and state- of-the-art equestrian center with over 14 miles of bridle trails, The BriarRose will offer the finest collection of outdoor recreational amenities in the country,” Davis said.

The BriarRose Country Estates & Club is an 1870-acre private community located about 45 minutes south of Athens on Georgia Highway 15 and 90 minutes east of Atlanta off I-20 at Exit 138. Plans call for fewer than 750 homes, cottages and cabins. For information, please call The BriarRose sales office at 866-763-7673 or visit the website, www.thebriarrose.com.
