Bulgari Resort Opens Atop Bali Cliffside

It doesn’t get any better than when Italian jewelers open up Indonesian luxury villa resorts.

That’s why it’s high time to jet over to the newly opened Bulgari Hotel in Bali, a 59-villa spread perched precariously—and magnificently—500 feet above the Indian Ocean. The villas start at a cozy 3,000 square feet, each with its very own open air dining area, garden, and pool (because we don’t always like to share). But if you do feel like rubbing elbows with other guests at mealtime, the restaurant serves authentic Balinese cuisine as it teeters over a pristine strip of ivory beach, accessible only by the hotel’s private inclined elevator (likely the best elevator ride you’ll ever take).

As all this splendor is sure to cause a little stress, a hand-carved traditional teak “Joglo” houses a cliffside spa, and the on-site Hindu temple is ready for your meditation needs. All the resort’s buildings are comprised of indigenous stone and ancient treated wood, but if you want to head out 21st century style, a helicopter and vintage Harleys are available for quick getaway trips to the nearby Temple of Uluwatu and arts center of Ubud.

As the Italians say, rolling any other way just doesn’t make sense.
