Special Lectures to Be Offered During Exhibition Will Enable Art Lovers to Learn More About Viewing, Collecting Traditional Fine Art
PASADENA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/08/2005 -- The California Art Club's 95th Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition, one of the country's premier displays of contemporary-traditional fine art, will be on view at the Pasadena Museum of California Art from April 2 to 23, 2006.

Special events to be held in conjunction with this exhibition include a Gala Preview Reception on the evening before the exhibition opens to the public, as well as lectures on what to look for in traditional fine art and strategies for collecting art.

The Gold Medal Exhibition, which showcases sculpture as well as paintings of genres ranging from quintessential California landscapes and seascapes to figurative and still life, is the only exhibition of its kind curated by a group of museum professionals.

"Assembling an esteemed panel of museum scholars to jury the Gold Medal Exhibition represents a concerted effort by the California Art Club to continually raise the bar in presenting a diverse cross-section of the best contemporary-traditional fine art," said American artist Peter Adams, the Club's president.

The jurors who selected the 112 paintings and 17 sculptures for the exhibition included D. Scott Atkinson, Chief Curator and Curator of American Art, San Diego Museum of Art; Sara Campbell, Ph.D., Chief Curator, Norton Simon Museum of Art; Wesley Jessup, Executive Director, Pasadena Museum of California Art; and Peter Keller, Ph.D., President, Bowers Museum of Cultural Art.

Pinkham, Victor Riesau, Ray Roberts, Jason Situ, Mian Situ, and Shuqiao Zhou.
