MARVAC: Summer May Be Over But Camping Season Doesn’t Have To Be

OKEMOS, Mich., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ — Leaves are changing and the air is crisp, sure signs that “camping season” is nearly over. Wrong! Don’t pack your RV away for the winter just yet! Camping is an excellent complement to your favorite fall and winter activities. Tailgating, skiing, hunting, hiking and snowmobiling can all be done with your RV. Many campgrounds remain open during fall and winter months, catering to those who enjoy fall and winter activities. They are located near popular ski destinations, remote hunting areas and secluded hiking trails.

Camping can be just as comfortable and fun for your family during the cooler months as it is in the warm months. An RV will make the perfect hunting cabin or ski lodge complete with all the comforts of home. After the day’s adventures, warm up in the RV and enjoy amenities like TVs, video-game systems, computers with Internet access, upholstered sofas, hot showers and queen-sized beds. You can refrigerate, freeze or cook your catch/game immediately using the fully equipped kitchen. Many of today’s RVs come equipped with thermostatically controlled furnaces and water heaters for cool weather camping. There’s plenty of storage space for hunting equipment, ice skates, skis, snowboards and bulky winter clothing. Toy-hauler RVs featuring built-in garages make it easy to haul large equipment like snowmobiles.

The Michigan Association of RVs and Campgrounds (MARVAC) has over 25 member campgrounds that are open year-round. Sno-Trac Village Resort in Grayling is a favorite among snowmobilers. The campground features large wooded sites, a trout stream and easy access to trails. Bring your own snowmobile or rent one from Sno-Trac Village. They also provide on-site sales and service, with repairs, inspections, parts, fuel and indoor storage. Other popular activities in the area include hunting, fishing, color tours and hiking.
