Blueberry Tea Part of Carriage Ridge 'Winter Tonic'
BARRIE, Ontario, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Carriage Ridge Resort in Horseshoe Valley offers the perfect cure to mid-winter blues: their 2006 Winter Tonic(TM), a combo winter-sports and getaway package.
The ingredients? Blueberry Tea (without the strong stuff), moonlit nights and glow sticks, jetted tubs and in-room fireplaces, and an easy-to-swallow price of $109 per person, based on double occupancy.
Winter Tonic packages at the stylish resort in Horseshoe Valley include an overnight stay in a one-bedroom condominium-style suite and two cross-county skiing or snowshoeing passes to Hardwood Hills, a nearby Nordic ski center. The package also includes steaming-hot complimentary beverages at Hardwood Hills and the resort's "winter tonic," a package of yummy fixings to enjoy privately in each suite.
The specially priced package may also be used on January 11 and February 8 with night-time, rather than daytime, ski passes, says Rich Cassara, regional vice president for Shell Hospitality's eastern resorts.
On those days, under the full moon, Carriage Ridge teams up with Hardwood Hills to host moonlight skiing and snowshoeing. Moonlight and headlamps, as well as glow sticks along some trails, light the way for this memorable experience. Finnish pancakes and non-alcoholic Blueberry Tea top off the experience at the center's onsite café. Later, in-room fireplaces and jetted big tubs in Carriage Ridge suites soothingly complete the evening.
Carriage Ridge Resort in Horseshoe Valley offers sizeable studios and one- and two-bedroom condominium-style suites with handsome contemporary furnishings. All suites have fully appointed kitchens, gas fireplaces, jetted tubs and private balconies that overlook scenic surroundings and common areas. A heated indoor swimming pool and hot tub, along with a fitness center, billiards room, and high-speed Internet café are part of the resort's recreation center.
Hardwood Hills is an easy five-minute drive away. The Nordic skiing and snowshoeing center offers 30KM of groomed ski trails and 17KM of dedicated snowshoe trails. Rental ski gear and instruction are available.
