Celebrity Cruises Shines 'Spotlight' on Aspiring Vocalists
Celebrated Stars of Music Industry Select Voice of Celebrity Cruises
MIAMI, April 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Timothy Greenidge may not be a household name yet, but his celebrity status might change courtesy of Celebrity Cruises, which yesterday named him winner of the line's Celebrity Spotlight(TM) vocal talent competition. The grand prize awarded to Greenidge includes $10,000, a free Celebrity cruise for two and a vocal recording contract.
Twelve finalists -- three each in the categories of travel agents, Celebrity guests, employees and Captain's Club members -- performed songs of their choice onboard Celebrity's Summit before a panel of judges, including Grammy award winners Michael Bolton and Jon Secada; singer, songwriter and actor Paul Williams; producers Sebastian Krys and Tom McWilliams; songwriter Aaron Barker and composer Edo Guidotti.
The four finalists then performed "Fueled by Moonlight Dust," the song co- written by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. President & COO Jack Williams, who announced his departure from the company last month. Greenidge's performance of the song received the judges' highest cumulative score.
Greenidge lives in Clackamas, Oregon, with his wife and three daughters. Born in the Bronx, New York, the son of a preacher, Greenidge says he was "blessed with a rich musical heritage of gospel and R&B."
