Chateau Country Package Combines Brandywine Valley Attractions Into One Ticket

WILMINGTON, Del., July 13 /PRNewswire/ — Like France’s Loire Valley with its famous castles, the Brandywine Valley is known as “Chateau Country,” thanks to the du Pont family estates that grace its beautiful countryside. Now, a Chateau Country Package lets visitors combine tickets to attractions with a stay at outstanding accommodations in this ideal vacation destination just thirty miles southwest of Philadelphia.

The four local treasures joining in the effort are Hagley Museum and Library, the site of the original DuPont Company powder mills; Winterthur, the premier showcase of American decorative arts and furnishings; Longwood Gardens, with more than 1,000 acres of horticultural delights indoors and out; and Nemours Mansion and Gardens, an antique-filled home modeled after Versailles’ Le Petit Trianon (currently closed for renovations).

For the first time ever, a single ticket will give visitors admission to all three attractions.

Participating accommodations are The Inn at Montchanin Village, a charmingly restored settlement reminiscent of the fictional Brigadoon; Hotel du Pont, the epitome of elegance located in downtown Wilmington; Best Western Brandywine Valley Inn, with Brandywine Valley character and furnishings; and Hilton Wilmington/Christiana, celebrating an old-world atmosphere and the region’s tradition of hospitality.

“This area is rich in natural beauty, world-class attractions, and wonderful places to stay,” declares Sharon Hernes Silverman, author of Brandywine Valley: The Informed Traveler’s Guide. “The Chateau Country program makes it easy for visitors to plan a trip, and gives them itinerary and accommodations choices to fit their interests and tastes.” J. Harry Feldman, Executive Director of the Greater Wilmington Convention and Visitors Bureau, asserts, “Chateau Country has been one of the most successful packages for visitors. It not only saves them money, but also steers them effortlessly to some of our area’s most outstanding attractions.”
