Chicago Magazine Selects the City’s 50 Best Chefs

Meet the Folks Responsible for Propelling Chicago to World-Class Dining Status

CHICAGO, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ — Chicago magazine, the largest city monthly in the country, raids the city’s top kitchens in search of the Windy City’s 50 best chefs. The November issue, which hits newsstands on Thursday, spotlights the culinary legends (like Arun’s Arun Sampanthavivat), the aces (like Naha’s Carrie Nahabedian) and innovators (like Schwa’s Michael Carlson).

“In the last 15 years or so, Chicago has turned into one of the best cities for dining in the world,” said Chicago magazine editor Richard Babcock. “With this issue, we go behind the scenes with many of the people who have brought about the revolution, exploring what makes them tick and what makes eating here so much fun.”

The package of stories also includes a look at the people who will be Chicago’s culinary wizards of the future and a roundtable discussion with six of the city’s most intriguing chefs, who sound off on everything from star ratings to copycatting dishes. Plus, Chicago senior editor Jennifer Tanaka spends a week working in the kitchen at Alinea, the radically inventive restaurant in Lincoln Park, for her piece, “Five Days on the Line.”
