Chicago Magazine Reveals the City’s Best New Restaurants

26 Reasons Why Chicago Stays at the Top of the Food Chain as a Great Restaurant City

CHICAGO, April 6 /PRNewswire/ — Chicago magazine, the largest city monthly in the country, unleashed its staff of epicurean adventurers to select the best new local restaurants for its annual roundup of top tables. The May issue, which features the ultra-hip restaurant Saltaus on its cover, hits newsstands next week.

“With a restaurant scene as vibrant and diverse as Chicago’s, naming the best new places is a daunting but delicious adventure,” says Penny Pollack, the magazine’s dining editor. “We expect differences of opinion about the final list, but there is no question that the new crop of smart and talented chefs confirm Chicago’s reputation as a progressive culinary capital — and an international dining destination.”

May’s “Where to Eat Now” issue also names the Best of the Best — singling out Alinea as the best new restaurant, Michael Carlson of Schwa as the best chef, and Copperblue’s lobster poached in rue-scented beurre monte with whitefish roulade and warm caviar gelee as the best dish.

Chicago magazine’s list of best new restaurants includes: Alinea, Block 44, Blue Water Grill, Butter, Carnivale, Copperblue, Cuatro, Custom House, Di Pescara, Emilio’s Sunflower Bistro, Francesca’s Forno, Fulton’s on the River, Il Mulino New York, La Casa Del Gordo, Landmark, May Street Market, Meiji, Michael, Mizu, Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro, Pancho Viti’s Mexican Cantina, Parlor, Saltaus, Schwa, Sola and Sushi Ai.
