A Circus Unlike No Other in Southwest Ohio
August 2006 – LEBANON, OH – Las Vegas-style entertainment hits southwest Ohio – BIG TIME. Cirque du Soleil, or “Circus of the Sun”, flies high in the Greater Cincinnati area, August 24 – September 17.
This non-traditional circus-style entertainment is more a theatrical and spectacular experience than you’ll remember from the circus shows of your childhood.
The Cirque Du Soleil cast is presenting the show Quidam (kee-dam), about a little girl named Zoe, who thinks she’s seen everything there is to see, and whose parents ignore and exasperate her. Angry and desperate, the little girl’s world shatters and she finds herself in the universe of Quidam. She is joined by a joyful companion who will attempt to seduce her with the marvelous, the unsettling, and the terrifying.
“Promoting Ohio’s Largest Playground™ is all about telling the story of the wealth of world-class attractions we have in and around Warren County, and Quidam brings one more fantastic element for us to attract travelers,” said Cheryl Roysdon, Warren County CVB director of marketing.
The very popular touring show, Quidam has surpassed its 3,000th performance in July 2004. It will be performed under a tent (the Grand Chapiteau) on the riverfront grounds of The Banks in downtown Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati touring cast includes 150 people representing 19 different countries, including 54 performers, six chefs, two physiotherapists, and two teachers for the child performers.
Cirque du Soleil was founded in the early 1980’s with a show conceived in Quebec that evolved from a street theater troupe.
Warren County is not just another tourist destination. It’s Ohio’s Largest Playground!™. World-class attractions and unique events make tourism the county's leading industry, with 6.7 million annual visitors.
The convenient location, with easy access from Interstates 71 and 75 makes Warren County a prime location for visitors to conveniently enjoy a greater possibility of activities in a one-trip destination, than they can anywhere else in Ohio.
