The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort Announces Dates for the 17th Annual Stone Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival

Longboat Key, FL (July 11, 2006) –The Colony Beach & Tennis Resort has announced that the highly anticipated 17th Annual Stone Crab, Seafood and Wine Festival will be take placeOctober 26-29, 2006. This unique three-day event celebrates the opening of Florida’s stone crab season with renowned guest chefs preparing stone crab and other native seafood alongside a group of acclaimed vintners presenting wines from around the world .

Every October, The Colony becomes a fusion of culinary genius and indulgent wine offerings asseven chefs and seven vintners from around the country convene for a weekend of interactive culinary demonstrations and wine tastings. Other highlights during the 3-day festival include a “Sand-Between-Your-Toes Tasting” on the beach and The Chef’s Collaboration Gala. The Gala represents the culmination of the festival and features a seven-course meal, complete with a specially chosen wine for each course.

Guest chefs slated to participate alongside The Colony’s Executive Chef Parker Lee for the 2006 festivities include this year’s alumni chef, Kevin Rathbun of Rathbun’s in Atlanta, GA, Carmen Gonzalez of Carmen the Restaurant in Coral Gables, FL, Donna Scala of Bistro Don Giovanni in Napa, CA, Cindy Hutson of Ortanique in Miami and Las Vegas and Nitzi Rabin of Chillingsworth in Brewster, MA. Vintners from St. Supery, Moss Creek Winery and Gargiulo Vineyards will represent their wineries at this nationally recognized culinary and wine event. Additional chefs and vintners will be announced in the coming weeks.

The roster of past participants reads like a “Who’s Who” of the culinary world. Alumni of the event include: chefs Jean-Louis Palladin, Bob Kinkead, Vincent Guerithault, David Burke, Michelle Bernstein, Kerry Simon, Larry Forgione and Dickie Brennan. Winemakers from many leading wineries such as Silverado, Swanson, Far Niente, Arrowood, Schramsberg, Clos Pegase, Biondi Santi and Hogue Cellars have been represented over the years.
