Continental Airlines Earns Highest Federal Aviation Administration Award for Companywide Maintenance Excellence
HOUSTON, April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL) today received honors for companywide excellence in Aviation Maintenance Training from the Federal Aviation Administration. The carrier earned the FAA Diamond Certificate of Excellence for Aviation Maintenance Training, the highest award offered as part of the organization's Aviation Maintenance Technician Award Program. Certificates of Excellence are given to employers with a specific percentage of employees who have participated in the Individual Technician Phase Awards and who have received honors for completing up to 100 extra hours of Aviation Maintenance and FAA regulations and policy training.
"I'd like to thank our many employees for always going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to maintenance training," said Mark Moran, Continental's executive vice president of Operations. "This award is a testament to Continental's focus on safety, quality and, of course, working together. I'm very proud of each and every one of my team members who contributed to earning this incredible honor from the FAA."
In addition to Continental's award earned as a company overall, 26 of Continental's maintenance stations in the United States also were awarded Diamond Awards individually.
"The FAA commends Continental's commitment to aviation maintenance training by increasing their employees' awareness and training to enhance aviation safety. We are extremely pleased to be able to present this prestigious award to Continental Airlines for its dedication to the AMT program," said Bernie Mullins, manager of the FAA's Continental Certificate Management Office.
