Continental Airlines to Accept Independence Air Tickets; Options for Standby and Confirmed Travel

HOUSTON, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL) has announced that it will accept tickets from passengers who were originally scheduled to fly on Independence Air following that airline's cessation of service, planned for 7 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2006.

STANDBY TRAVEL

Travelers holding tickets on Independence Air must call Continental by March 6, 2006 to arrange travel. These customers pay an administrative service fee of $50 one-way and use their Independence Air ticket to travel on a standby basis on Continental and Continental Express flights only.

Standby travel is valid from/to the original origin/destination. Seats may not be available for all dates or from all cities.

The Independence Air customer must present proof of purchase on Independence Air with either a paper ticket or printout of an eTicket confirmation at check-in. Travel is valid in economy class only. No upgrades are permitted.

CONFIRMED TRAVEL

For $100 one way, Independence Air passengers can purchase confirmed space for travel during the month of January if there is space on the flight. Confirmed space travel must be on the same dates and from/to the same airports as the original Independence Air ticket.

Independence Air customers wanting to reschedule their travel can call Continental reservations at 1-800-525-0280. Passengers are encouraged to request and pay for their standby record prior to arriving at the airport to expedite airport passenger processing. All passengers must go to the Continental ticket counter to complete their processing for their requested flights.

Confirmed tickets are nonrefundable and standby tickets are nonrefundable once travel has commenced. Permissible changes incur a $100 change fee plus any additional collection in fare difference. Fares, Routes and schedules are subject to change without notice. Fares do not include per-segment fee of $3.30. A segment is defined as a takeoff and landing. The September 11th security fee of up to $10 is not included and Airport Facility charges of up to $18 are not included. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights.
