“This service represents a great opportunity, both for Continental and for trans-Atlantic travelers from the Hamburg region,” said Jim Summerford, Continental’s vice president Europe, Middle East and Asia. “They can now take advantage of award-winning service on nonstop flights from their local airport.”

The 8-foot-2-inch winglets, which have been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration after a stringent set of tests and certifications, are expected to achieve up to a five percent fuel savings and give the airplanes approximately 200 nautical miles of additional range. Eleven of Continental’s 41 757-200 aircraft are scheduled to be equipped with winglets this year.

The premium-class cabin features extra-wide electronic sleeper seats with 55-inch pitch, adjustable winged headrests and personal video screens. A specially selected and trained corps of more than 200 concierges provides individualized pre-flight and post-flight services for BusinessFirst customers at 26 key international airports worldwide.
