Crystal Cruises Wins Ten Consecutive Years of Travel + Leisure's Readers' Poll for 'World's Best Large-Ship Cruise Line'
Unmatched Record of #1 Wins in the Cruise Industry
LOS ANGELES, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Attesting to the consistent excellence of its luxury travel experience, for a tenth consecutive year, Crystal Cruises has been voted the "World's Best Large-Ship Cruise Line" in Travel + Leisure magazine's annual readers' survey. Crystal Cruises is the only cruise line -- and one of only three travel companies -- to have won the prestigious award in an overall category each year for the last decade.
"While each award is very special, we are exceptionally honored to win this tenth year on the tenth anniversary of Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards," says Gregg Michel, president, Crystal Cruises. "Our research indicates that reputation is a key factor in making a travel decision and there is no better validation of Crystal's reputation than to win this award for an unprecedented number of consecutive years from the sophisticated readers of Travel + Leisure. Since our inception, Crystal Cruises has been dedicated to providing an unparalleled travel experience of choices, space, service and quality. We are gratified that our winning formula is so consistently appreciated by the savviest of travelers."
For the tenth annual readers' survey, a questionnaire developed by the editors of Travel + Leisure, in association with Harris Interactive, was made available to Travel + Leisure subscribers during the first quarter of 2005. Respondents reported where they had traveled worldwide and how, and rated only the destinations, properties and companies that were relevant to their recent travel experiences. Readers were asked to rate cruise lines on a variety of criteria including Service, Itineraries/Destinations, Food, Cabin, Entertainment/Activities and Value.
In 2005, Crystal Cruises' fleet consists of the luxurious 940-guest, 50,000-ton Crystal Symphony and Crystal Harmony, and 1,080-guest, 68,000-ton Crystal Serenity. In 2006, following the departure of Crystal Harmony from the fleet, the luxury line's Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity will cruise worldwide on itineraries of seven to 106 days.
"While we are enjoying an unmatched record of #1 wins in the cruise industry, we have never taken the awards for granted," adds Michel. "Our shoreside and shipboard team are committed to being the best in the luxury service business, not just the luxury cruise industry. An ongoing program of staff training and measurement systems keeps us focused. I'm very proud of our team's creativity, experience, and commitment to innovating product enhancements and services that means something to our guests, not just innovation for innovation sake."
During the past year, Crystal has expanded its dining, shoreside and even bedding choices with such features as Wine Makers dinners in its new Vintage Rooms, exclusive cultural and active Crystal Adventures ashore throughout the world, and a pillow menu for a customized sleep experience. In recent years, in addition to a lavish World Cruise, the line's itinerary choices have offered more seven-day cruises in various destinations.
Continues Michel, "On our recent seven-day European cruises, more than 50% of the guests were under 50 and the guest ratings were the line's highest ever, which further corroborates the Travel + Leisure survey: Crystal is providing a luxurious and contemporary vacation experience for guests of different generations."
