DETROIT, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- The time is now. The Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee, Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Detroit welcome the world to Detroit. Banners are hung, tickets are sold, hotels are booked, new restaurants are open, new development is underway and metro Detroit is ready for Super Bowl XL.

"Detroit is the only northern city to host two Super Bowls and we're rolling out the welcome mats," said Larry Alexander, president & CEO of the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (DMCVB). "Visitors will be welcomed with warm hospitality at all of our area's fine hotels, restaurants and attractions."

Detroit has taken advantage of its winter destination assets by creating an indoor/outdoor winter festival that can't be found in any other Super Bowl host city. Running Feb. 2-5, the Motown Winter Blast provides winter fun for everyone, with ice skating, Model-T rides, local and national music and tastes of Detroit with food from local restaurants, as well as ice sculptures, marshmallow roasting, and a 200-foot long snow slide and dog sledding.

From outdoor festivities to indoor excitement, there are many ways to enjoy all the fun metro Detroit has to offer Super Bowl week.

Live out your dream of playing pro-football at the America Online Presents The NFL Experience. The NFL Experience brings more than 50 interactive games and attractions to Cobo Center in Detroit from Feb. 1-5. Men, women and children of all ages can take part in skill competitions, interactive exhibits, autograph sessions, the Topps Super Bowl XL Card Show, youth clinics and the Foot Locker/Champs NFL Team Shop. Proceeds from this event will go to the NFL Youth Education Town in Detroit.

The Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee, City of Detroit, DMCVB and its members and partners have been working together to make sure metro Detroit will be ready to shine on Feb. 5.

"The city of Detroit is ready to give a big Motown welcome to our visitors from around the world," says Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick. "We're excited to have the opportunity to focus on the progress we are making rebuilding Detroit and on so many attractions to be found here that will bring people back for a second and third time."

Simplify traveling by taking advantage of the six park and ride stops available throughout metro Detroit Feb. 2-5. Visit http://www.sbxl.org/ for locations, pick-up times and prices. For those making the trip downtown, be knowledgeable of the area beforehand by reviewing street closures at http://www.michigan.gov/mdot .

Know the plays before the snap by purchasing a commemorative copy of Visit Detroit, the Official Super Bowl XL guide, including a 20-page Super Bowl XL section on Super Bowl week happenings around metro Detroit. The traditional and limited edition Visit Detroit with a foil-embossed cover and 3-D graphic for $3.99 are now available at key newsstands and through the DMCVB. The plans are set for Super Bowl XL and Detroit is ready to host the world.

"We are confident that all of the planning and the heart of Detroiters will give our visitors an unforgettable experience -- an experience they've never had at any other Super Bowl," stated Susan Sherer, Executive Director, Detroit Super Bowl XL Host Committee. "We know they'll discover an exciting Detroit that's proud to be the host city for Super Bowl XL."
